I did a tarot reading on myself and asked how do I boost my psychic abilities, and it said I have to give myself love, quit my addictions, meditate, and hard work.

Depends on your proclivities and personality tendencies, as well as the state of your life as it is now versus the history of your life. For a long time I used Vipassana meditation because it was the simplest and easiest to implement in a busy life-style, but that was when I was living a more conventional life going through college and graduate school. I had a spurt of trying Rinzai Zen, which is much more austere and was designed by Buddhist monks who were charged with servicing Japanese samurai and their high-class shogun overlords, but it was too intense for my preferences. So there's the more soft Soto Zen that was designed for the peasant class and those living a rustic life in the fields.

I've followed the stream down to more devotional mantric and chanting meditations when I started my business, as they help soothe some aspect of the distracted mind and allowed me to go into flow states focused on building wealth and abundance. Now that I've left that chapter, I'm in a more devotional chanting meditation stage of life, as I've come to build more intense faith in spiritual beings well beyond the current human existence, as they've revealed themselves in more detail.

This would not have worked for my more scientifically inclined mind while I was in the lab in graduate school, as you can imagine. I needed a more analytical, precise practice with no frills then when I had a very strong goal-oriented, materialistic mindset, while now that I've come to rest in a sense of spiritual and material abundance, I can put my attention on more faith-based meditations. But I've also experienced enough to give me evidence to put my full faith into it, versus if you haven't had those experiences of being pulled out of the spiritual and literal pit at rock bottom, it doesn't really make sense to do.

Keeping in mind that all of these practices worked at one time or another for myself, so part of it is just seeing if there's a match, like dating or a relationship. Who you date when you were in the your 20s is different from who you'd date in your 40s. You have different needs, energy levels, and experiences at those times.
