Is Entrepreneurship Overglorified?

Is the idea of being an entrepreneur over-glorified?

Is the satisfaction really worth it? Or is the idea of being an entrepreneur over glorified? Or is it the best position to be in?

My Response:

Part of it is personality. I've heard this many times from others, and agree with it myself, but if you're someone who hates taking direction from others and tend to have a poor relationship with management, sometimes entrepreneurship is the only way. Yes, you have many clients or customers to deal with, but at least you have some control over that, otherwise, you're kind of married to whatever company you're with.

I have absolutely zero tolerance for workplace politics and corporate management, and have argued with bosses in the past. I also hate inefficiency, so when I see entire operations running like a donkey, it drives me nuts that no one is taking any action.

If you can tolerate these things, probably better to pursue employment because health insurance and business taxes are expensive.

I could never find a job, so entrepreneurship was the only pathway for me to make a buck. I also lucked out and landed in a fairly high-yield, low-supply field that's fairly niche (food science consulting). But I also grew up with parents who ran businesses, so it was fairly natural, and I never knew any form of employment except one internship that had me want to blow my brains out.

Are you working on a new food or beverage product? Interested in working with me and my team to get started?
